I am pretty excited that the Mets have put in some effort to better there line up with the likes of Jason Bay. I am pretty excited that they are taking into consideration that if they want to get the most out of there pitchers. They need a good experiences catcher with a good baseball mind in the likes of Bengie Molina. I feel that both of these great player would add to the current Mets roster.

In the wake of all the rumors of Bay leveraging the Mets against themselves. The hold up of Molina wanting that extra year on his contract despite the fact that he is 35 years old. The Mets have seem to have completely forgot about the fact that they are in extreme need for starting pitching.

It is a very well known fact that in order to compete late in the year (post-season). You have to have at least 2 aces in your lineup. John Maine, Mike Pelfrey or Oliver Perez are 4th or 5th in the rotation on any playoff bound team in the league. If you ask me, they would be lucky to even be on the roster of a team that is competing come October.

I am not saying that I am love with Jason Marquis either. His best year came in 2004 when he went 15-7 with a 3.71 ERA. Since then he has been nothing but average. His career pitching numbers being just above .500 with an ERA close to 4.50. He did have a good start last year making the All-Star team for the first time in his career due to a 11-6 start. The second half of the season didn’t go as well finishing up at 15-13.

After going on about how shitty Marquis is. I realized that the mets probably didn’t lose out on this. More so passing up another opportunity on the next Oliver Perez. But where do they go next. Is there anyone else out there in the mix? All of the real pitchers have been snatched up by contenders.

Is there any big name players out these that even care to play for this organization anymore?
