Trade Update: Victor Martinez to Bosox, Laroche to Mets?

Published by Mikey Mets under Mets News, Mets Trades, The Mets

**UPDATE** 3:16pm- Nevermind, Gordon Edes is reporting that the Red Sox have traded 1B Adam Laroche to the Atlanta Braves.  Son of a bitch!  I would have taken him over nothing.  Oh well, 40 mins to go to the deadline.

3:04pm- With the trade deadline looming, pending medicals and finalizing fine print, the Red Sox and Indians have struck a deal in which Boston will acquire switch-hitting catcher-first baseman Victor Martinez for a package of prospects that doesn’t include top pitching prospect Clay Buchholz.

Now that the deal had been made,  it appears that the Red Sox may want to move newly acquired 1B Adam Laroche. Several sources have been saying,  Mets could be his likely landing spot.  That will be awesome since Carlos Beltran and Laroche hate each other.  That will make for some amazing chemistry coming down the stretch!  What do you guys think?

Niese Melt Down- Mets Back to Normal

Published by Mikey Mets under Mets News, The Mets

Well, that was fun!  The New York Mets are back to normal suffering a loss at the hands of the Colorado Rockies.  The Rockies went ahead for good in the seventh. De La Rosa smoked a leadoff double off Jonathan Niese (1-1). After Tatis robbed Seth Smith of his third hit, Barmes crushed a drive to left for his 14th homer.

Niese departed after Todd Helton singled and Tulowitzki hit Brian Stokes first pitch off the wall in left for a run-scoring triple, increasing Colorado’s lead to 4-1.  The Mets never recovered.

“I made a few mistakes and they made me pay for them,” Niese said.  No shit, sherlock.  Thanks, we noticed.

I will take 3 out of 4 anytime, and I am happy about how well the Mets have been playing lately.  Lets just hope they can resume the momentum tonight and get back on track.

In other news, Carlos Beltran is poised to be back in the line up soon and from the looks of this picture, he appears to be getting back into shape.  You can tell that he is definitely not using steroids.

Mets Take Game 1- Streak at 5

Published by Mikey Mets under Mets News, The Mets

I am actually beginning to have a little hope.  The New York Mets have defeated the Colorado Rockies for  the 3rd time in a row, in the first game of today’s doubleheader.   That brings the streak to 5 games.  WTF is going on with these guys?  Once again, every guy on the team contributed today, and the Mets put together 11 hits for the 7-0 win.

Johan Santana looked superb, pitching 7.0 innings, with 8 k’s, 1 bb, while giving up just 4 hits.

It is quite possible that newly acquired, Golarb the Wizard (see post below)  is indeed, “working some magic”.  Apparently, he has been working on some kind of hex, that will revers the Mets curse.   In other news, he has consequently put it on the Colorado Rockies, as evidenced by the way the outfield was handling the ball today.  Thanks Golarb!

Now, lets just hope Jon Niese can play nice today, and deliver number 6.  Mets go for the sweep tonight at 7pm with Niese facing Jorge De La Rosa.

Brothers in Arms

David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez were among the more than 100 Major League Baseball players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, according to a report in The New York Times.    The other 600 players in the league, were not tested.

That makes the 3rd person since  Alex Rodriguez admitted using performance-enhancing drugs after he was linked to the 2003 list.   It’s so weird that once these guys stop using steroids, that all of a sudden, they suck.

Rare Barry Bonds Rookie Card Found

Earlier today, Mets Ballers contributor, Danny K discovered an original Barry Bonds rookie card.   I do not know about you guys, but I do not see any evidence that he was ever on steroids.  Story is developing…

Microphone check 1-2, Game Post-poned

Published by Mikey Mets under Mets News, The Mets

Tonights Mets game against the Rockies was postponed until tomorrow.  They will play a day-night double header tomorrow.  Johan Santana and Jon Niese will be pitching, cross your fuckin fingers, motherfuckers.   This one has the potential to be a doozy.   Johan has been shaky of late and Niese, just got his second career MLB victory.  He got one last year…last fucking year.  Then it was down hill from there.  Lets just hope they both do not take any advice from this asshole…

Mets Add New Massage Therapist

With the recent amount of injuries, Omar Minaya has decided to bolster the training staff.  “With Beltran, Reyes, Delgado, Wagner, Putz, Maine, F. Martinez, R. Martinez, Nieve, and now Sheffield,  all on the DL, we had to get some reinforcements on the training staff”, Minaya said.

He has decided to bring in a heavy weight in the world of massage therapy, Marge Battaglia.  Marge is a nutritional coach and a deep tissue massage specialist.

She is responsible for the recent weight gains of both Mike Tyson and Kevin Federline.   Take a look at her work…

All of the currently injured Mets and even those that are not injured, will start treatment right away.   Marge said, ” I am going to eat this team up, as if I was devouring a caddillac for breakfast.  Then for lunch, I am going to work on Omar.”  Then, she coughed and a ham hock fell out her mouth.

Well, I am not too sure about this acquisition, but lets hope Minaya knows what he is doing.  I am not too convinced after the press conference the other day.  Minaya had this to say…

MetsBallers.com now, Baby- Welcome Aboard!

Well, let me start by saying, welcome to the new and improved Mets BAllers.   Apparently, my brash writing style, and my so called use of “almost true” facts, and excessive use of the words: pussies, whores, fuck yourselves, and cock sandwiches, the MLB decided I was not exactly what they had in mind for a news column.  They said and I quote, “your writing style, is not up to MLB Standards” and that, “there are no such MLB employees or players named Golarb the Magician, Ira Goldfarb, or Marcus “Action” Jackson (see posts below).  I beg to differ.

So instead of switching up my style, I have decided to go rogue from MLBLogs  and start up my own gang.  So enjoy… the lunacy, the sports news, the chicks, and the mostly true storys.  Welcome to MetsBallers.com
